Week 6, Thing #15

Internet contains vast resources in videos, photos, musics, technical papers etc. It is a place you can share your creativity with others in this cyberspace. We need a copyright law to protect our creativity. One place we can share and protect our intellectual property and at the same time allow others to use them is "Creative Common". Users need to answer a few simple questions in a few minutes and is totally free. In "Creative Common" users can obtain relevant resources without violating the copyright law.

Technorati surfaces millions of blog posts in seconds. This site is the source of the top stories, opinions, photos, videos, technology, business etc. It is the most comprehensive and current index of who and what is most popular in the Blogosphere.

I have created a Del.icio.us account for myself which helps me to bookmark my previous favourite websites on one page. I can access to these favourite websites on any computer when I login with my delicious.com's account.

Week 5, Thing #11

My favourite site from the Web 2.0 Awards is Google Maps which is more than just lines on the screen. It allows you to search for any map you want in the world. With Street View, Aerial View, Advanced direction, Google Maps leads the mapping field.

Week 4 Thing #9

Post 1 CNN News
Among Feedster, Topix.net, Syndic8.com and Technorati search tool. My finding is that it is very hard to access to Feedster. I can find a Blog and Technology News easily through Technorati and Topix.net respectively. From the search, I find CNN News in CNN.com which contains important news around us and gives in-depth analysis of the event.

Week 4 Thing #8

I've created a free RSS aggregator account from Google Reader and subscribe to Technology News. My URL is below.

I like RSS and Newsreader because they put all the updates of my subscribed topics on one page. It really saves my times to look for required information.

I can use this technology to obtain the latest update in my interested field. Our library can use RSS to source for relevant materials to meet the staff's needs.

(a) Technology of Interest

In Youtube, I can find a lot of videos. They teach you a particular trade you wish to know more. It is a good source to learn new things from Youtube.

(b) Using Flickr with my students

As there are so many interesting and attractive pictures in Flickr, it is easy to locate a few relevant to my lesson and post it in my presentation to amuse my students.

I have created a Flickr account and uploaded a few photos which I took during my vacation in China in December 2007.

Included is a photo of Design and Rapid Prototyping Centre of Ngee Ann Polytechnic in which my office is located. This is a place where I conduct my lessons, briefings, receive visitors from local and overseas institutions.

Flickr is a wonderful website. There are so many fantastic pictures poster there. I enjoy nature scenery. By looking at all the nature pictures, it reminds me about my past holidays at Europe, America and China.
